Frequently Asked Questions
Can you cure me?
The short answer to that question is NO I cannot cure anyone, for two reasons;
1. I can only assist someone else in accessing the healing energy of Reiki, whether through private sessions or in a class;
2. While it has been said that only a licensed medical doctor can claim to cure any disease I believe that the process begins with you.
What's the difference between healing and curing?
The fundamental difference between healing and curing is that a cure - usually through medication, surgery or other modalities - is applied to the eradication of disease or sickness. Healing suggests wholeness and wellness leaving a person with a sense of accomplishment and empowerment - even within a terminal illness.
This is so expensive, is it really worth it?
Only you can answer that question. Look deeply at your situation to determine how you feel about continuing on your present course. We are each addicted to our lives, the pain, the suffering, the whatever. To what extent are you willing to change and how you will go about making those changes. Cost is all relative - paid in cash, time, pain etc.
What guarantees do I have that Reiki will work?
None. What I will say with confidence is that it is a great stress reliever and when stress is reduced or eliminated then your system is better able to cope with life's challenges.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on how long you have been stressed or have had the present condition. The longer the condition has been present, the more sessions will be necessary. My suggestion is that you plan to do the first 3 sessions within the first two weeks and then see how your body feels. If you listen carefully you will know when it is time for another session.
How do I choose a practitioner?
The first thing to do is make certain that the practitioner has been attuned to at least Level I or First Degree Reiki. Call the practitioner and ask questions about what will take place in a session, how much it will cost, how long it will take. The purpose of the call is to determine how you feel about that person before you actually reach their office and whether or not you really want to try that practitioner.
How do I choose a teacher?
Why should I bother with the class?
If you have a chronic illness then I would recommend at least Level I Reiki. This way you are able to give yourself treatments as and when necessary, augmenting the work you do with your practitioner. The other side of that coin is that if someone in your family has a chronic illness, with their permission, you will be able to assist that family member.
Even if you do not have a chronic illness using Reiki in your daily life is an empowerment tool that can bring you to greater heights of personal awareness, and provide you with a healing tool to assist family and friends in times of need.
Ok, I've done the class... do I need any more private sessions?
Not necessarily, but sometimes it is nice just to allow someone else to look after you.Be guided by how you feel.
